ABOUT OUR COFFEE

Vietnamese coffee is coffee made with coffee beans grown in Vietnam. In fact, Vietnam is the #2 producer of coffee in the world, second to Brazil; Vietnam is also the #1 producer of robusta coffee in the world. You can learn more about Vietnamese coffee here.
“Vietnamese coffee” has also been understood as a style and preparation, namely including sweetened condensed milk, the phin drip method and/or very strong coffee. We here at Phin Coffee strive to expand the understanding of Vietnamese coffee and bring diversity to Australia’s coffee culture. We celebrate Vietnamese coffee as a bean and its potential to be enjoyed in a wide range of brew methods and drink recipes.
In the coffee world, there are two main species of coffee beans: robusta and arabica.
Robusta beans have 60% less sugar and 60% less fats than arabica beans. Robusta beans have nearly 2x the caffeine content of arabica beans.
Generally, this means that robusta beans are stronger and more bold / robust in flavor.
Arabica beans have less caffeine content than robusta, and 60% more sugar and 60% more fat than robusta, which is why they tend to be lighter, sweeter, and fruitier. Learn more here.
Our premium beans are directly sourced from coffee farms in Vietnam's Central Highlands, harvested in rich volcanic mountain soil and the perfect climate.
We import green beans from Vietnam and roast them in Sydney in small batches with care ship to you direct from our roastery so you’ll be getting the freshest coffee possible.
We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight. This will ensure moisture and air don’t age the coffee too quickly and your coffee retains its flavour and quality for longer.
To us, coffee can be a source of joy and creativity in a cup so we encourage you to explore your own brewing experience and HAVE FUN! That being said, see our brew guides to learn how to make authentic Vietnamese coffee.
